What are skills?

A skill is a recipe the AI follows for a specific job. You write the instructions once, and the result comes out the same way every time

Good candidates for a skill:

• A report, proposal or newsletter in your own structure and tone
• A multi-step routine: "find this week's numbers, compare them with last week, write a summary and make a chart"
• House rules for a kind of work: how you name files, format tables or cite sources
• Background the AI needs for a topic, such as your product names or your client list

Create a skill

Open Settings → Skills and click Add skill, or type / in the message box and choose Create new skill. A skill has:

• Command name: what you type after /
• Description for AI: one line that tells the AI when the skill applies
• Instructions: the recipe itself, as detailed as you like

You can also ask in chat: "save this as a skill called weekly-report"

Use a skill

• On demand: type / in the message box and pick the skill, then add your request
• Automatically: with AI discovery switched on, the AI finds the skill by its description and uses it whenever a request matches. This is on for new skills

Each skill has two switches: AI discovery lets the AI use it on its own, and Slash commands shows it in the / menu

Standard skills

Air9 comes with skills for creating Word documents, PDFs and PowerPoint presentations. The AI uses them whenever you ask for such a file
